After this first week of interactions with your children and learning what I can from my interactions with them only, I am happy to say how thrilled I am with the diversity and curiosity for learning that each brings. I want you and I to be a team that is constantly collaborating and communicating to help each other help your child reach his or her full potential.
This being said, the more that we share with each other, the more beneficial the moments that your child spends with me will be. Encourage your child to fill me in on what they did at home the previous evening or weekend, and I have high hopes that you will be eager to talk about your child's day at school with them. I want to know what interests your child has and what makes him/her go "wow!" This way, we can together create methods of education that will be most effective and enjoyable in your child's academic journey.
Bringing eveyone's interests and characteristics into the classroom will spark curiosities among the other students and create bonds within them while they share and have conversation about what they like and dislike, know and don't yet know, and have or have not experienced. I can't wait to have more conversations with you about your fascinating children, and am looking forward to exciting and engaging lesson plans that will be developed based on the interests your child gifts the class with.
This entry was simple yet quite useful. As a reader, some of the words that stuck out to me were 'team,' 'full potential,'and 'encourage.' You did a lot of informing the parents of THEIR duty to the classroom, and I thought that was neat. If you acknowledge that they play an important role in their child's academic success, then hopefully the likelihood of their collaboration will increase.
ReplyDeleteI like your entry. I think you did a great job on explain the importance of parent/teacher collaboration and the role of the parent in the classroom. I also really liked the picture you incorporated. It captures diversity in a simple, meaningful way.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! This is, like mentioned above, simple but so effective! I think that strategies like this used in the classroom can be so beneficial. Is this something that you think you would want to try and implement throughout the year?
ReplyDeleteThis is a very well written post. Parents are going to like and respond to this because it sounds genuine. Parents are more likely to open up to a person who is genuine and I think you will have no problem with that. Along with opening up, I do agree by sharing pieces of their background, they will be able to bond and build a rapport. That is very important as well.

First off, this post was so approachable! It really sets a light tone and gives parents a good idea on how to support their child in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteAn idea that I thought of while reading was to have a parent come in once every two weeks and present the child's interests and hobbies with their child. All the children can interact together and really bond over trying new things or finding out common interests!
